Every day, hundreds, if not thousands, of Cubans leave the country. Consequently, Cuba is losing many surfers and activists who have made significant contributions to their country and have advocated for the continuation of surfing in Cuba. The children of Cuba represent the future of the nation.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5f2f74e6 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"5f2f74e6\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Yumuri Surfer Kids Project<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-47e4f903 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"47e4f903\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The Yumuri Surf Project supports the children of Yumuri, a village with approximately 300 residents located at the eastern tip of Cuba, about 30 kilometers from Baracoa. Since the COVID-19 crisis, transportation in Cuba has significantly deteriorated, and remote areas like Yumuri are particularly affected. As a result, essential donations and tourism have dwindled, leaving the community in urgent need of support.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<section data-particle_enable=\"false\" data-particle-mobile-disabled=\"false\" class=\"elementor-section elementor-inner-section elementor-element elementor-element-401a41e0 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"401a41e0\" data-element_type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-inner-column elementor-element elementor-element-1f1a2c89\" data-id=\"1f1a2c89\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-46ce97f2 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"46ce97f2\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>In the village of Yumuri, surfer Roberto and his son teach the local children how to surf and get them excited about water sports. With limited recreational options available, the children have few ways to occupy themselves. At this remote tip of Cuba, there are no playgrounds\u2014just the river, the rocky gorge, and a fantastic surf spot. The survival of this small surfing community relies heavily on donations.\nDuring the coronavirus pandemic, the surfboards in Yumuri suffered significant wear and tear, and a lack of materials made it difficult to repair them.<\/p><p>Cuba lacks sports equipment shops, which forces surfers to rely on donations or purchase their gear from abroad through expensive methods.
